PET PEEVES™

Community guidelines

Something bothering you? Say so. Keep it about the problem, not the person.

Welcome here

Frustration, humour, disagreement and constructive criticism. Naming a business’s policy or product and saying what you think of it. Describe what happened to you and say what you think, rather than stating it as fact.

Not allowed

  • Personal attacks or harassment
  • Threats
  • Hate
  • Sexual content
  • Private information
  • Accusing someone of a crime or fraud
  • Spam or self-promotion
  • Something illegal
  • Involving minors

Private information means other people’s names, addresses, phone numbers, license plates and workplaces. Anything aimed at our checks or at SOLU instead of at a Pet Peeve is held for a moderator.

How posts are checked

Every Pet Peeve, update, comment and solution is checked before it appears. Most go up at once. If the wording attacks someone, SOLU may suggest a kinder version, which you can use, change, or send as written for a moderator to decide. Anything about a named business or person, or anything unclear, waits for a moderator, usually within a day. A post about a business is approved unless it breaks a guideline: being negative is fine, and whether a business advertises with us never matters. If we can’t post something, we say why, and you can appeal once within 30 days.

If you or someone else may be at risk

Call or text 988, or chat at chat.988lifeline.org (text and chat are available in Spanish). If someone is in immediate danger, call 911.

Reporting a concern

Members can report any post. If a post is about you or your business, use “Report a concern” on its page; you don’t need an account. Copyright claims go to our copyright contact in the Terms.
