Self-checkout that needs an attendant every single time

I pick self-checkout to save time, and then it flags "unexpected item in bagging area" on every other scan. So I end up waiting for the one employee covering six machines anyway. Is there a store that actually gets this right?

Waiting for help at a machine that was supposed to save you time is a frustrating trade-off.

  1. Worth trying Place each item on the bagging area gently and wait for the scale to settle before scanning the next one. Moving things too soon often triggers the warning.
